  1. I just entered. This is a great opportunity. I really loved last year’s winning entry. To answer the question, if I won I’d probably use the money to purchase books, both for school and leisure.

  2. I love WriteOnCon, but missed this contest. Love the thought of trying it out this year. If I won, that money would definitely go in the pot to take me to writing conferences in the coming year.

  3. What a fantastic opportunity. I look forward to reading and voting on the winning entries. If I win, I’m gonna buy books. Lots and lots of books.

  4. I sooo wish the ms were complete, but I’m still finishing up edits. Good luck to all the entrants! :)

What a great contest! I would spend the money on a writing conference.

  6. Great contest. I’d spend the money on lots and lots of books.

  7. Cool contest. However, you listed the site as The ReadingRoom.com which takes you to the wrong place. I think you meant to put thereadingroom.com. Thought I’d mention so that people don’t get confused :)

    Looking forward to entering!

  8. Thanks for the catch, Lauren! Good luck :)

  9. Hi.The rules for the contest say your submission must be 450 words/1 page. Which is correct? 450 words double spaced equals 3-4 pages. It might be possible if you changed the margins and single spaced to get 450 words on one page but it would also look ridiculous! Can you please specify how this should be done.

    Thank you so much!

  10. Kirstin,
I just pulled up a working document and in Times New Roman, 10 point, we have 460 words on one page. If I were entering, I would pull the first 450, but no need to cut off in the middle of a sentence. So if you have to go a bit above or below 450 to reach an appropriate end point, go for it. Does that make sense? Good luck!

  11. Rena Traxel says:

How does the voting work? Will the winner’s work be posted in a closed forum so that people can vote or will anyone who happens by be able to see the entry. I’m asking because some publishers would consider work shown on a website as perviously published.

  12. I’m still working on my first draft. Good luck to everyone else!

Hi. I have a quick question I’m hoping someone can help me out with. My book is written in alternating POV of the two MC’s. The first chapter is from the boy, Luc’s, POV. The second from the girl, Auri. The first two chapters ended up being interchangeable and I’m still uncertain as to which one I’m starting the book with. Can I enter two different first pages of the same novel? I know it’s an unusual question but, as I said, the novel is completely done with the exception of that one small thing. Anyone know if I can enter twice? Thanks!!

  14. I’m entering. If I won I’d certainly buy books, but I’d also save some in the bank,

Hi. I also have a quick question. What does finished mean– a draft you’re satisfied with or a full draft of the story, or something else?
