Everyone knows one of the best parts of a conference is the free stuff! Josh will gladly send a signed bookplate to any WriteOnCon-er who would like one. Just email joshberkbooks (at) gmail (dot) com with your address and he’ll send it out (open internationally). How cool is he?!
Also, he has a few HAMBURGER HALPIN paperbacks which he can sign and mail out. This part, sadly, is open to US-addresses only. To enter just email joshberkbooks (at) gmail (dot) com with WRITEONCON PAPERBACK CONTEST in the subject line and your address in the message body. He’ll randomly pick three winners at the end of the conference and send the book your way. Write on!
*You DO NOT have to donate to WriteOnCon to win this prize.
Nice job! Hilarious start to the conference. Your poem is so true. My mobster headed baby keeps telling me I’m a one-book-wonder. What a dick.

Josh, thanks for starting off the conference and my day. I loved your advice, especially about needing to read and dealing with the fear. Your poem was awesome. Thanks so much for sharing it.
Thanks so much, Josh. Your keynote coincided with our fortnightly Twitter picture book chat, #pblitchat so we all watched your vlog with interest. We even tweeted your three fantastic points to remember
Oh my…great combo of humour and some serious good advice! Thanks, Josh. Frankly I am going to through a bathrobe on my fear–or maybe put a cat suit on it, lol! Enjoy the conference…and your boy kinda rocks with the advice, too!

Josh,
Great advice that spans over all genres!
Would love to share your poem with others
Do you have posted on your blog or Facebook?
If not, would you . . . please?!
Thanks, Josh! Great keynote. For school I wrote a paper and gave a lecture about fear and writing–I collected lots of personifications of fear but yours is the BEST! Love it!! (I’m speaking about fear and writing in October and will share your great image with SCBWI-Iowa people!
Great advice (especially about fear). I’ll never get the image of the mobster-headed baby out of my mind. LOL . . . and scary. Give that baby a time out!
I love his advice about reading. It’s so true! And I know what he means about reading getting ruined because when you read like a writer you’re always pulling everything apart. However, when something is really awesome I find that I stop reading like a writer and just read…
OMG – the fear, the fear. And it hasn’t gone away even after finishing my book. But maybe I can put it over in a corner just long enough – thanks for this wonderful keynote

Thank you so much, Josh! What a great way to kickoff the conference, I loved your poem on ‘fear’ and wondered if you were going to post in the forums
Great keynote speech and way to start off my first WriteOnCon. I loved the advice, especially the advice about reading. Reading is so important to writers. Also loved the poem about “fear”. Of course, now my dreams will probably be haunted by your creepy baby-with-a-mobster-head version of it tonight. XP
Hi Josh,
Great advice! And thanks for starting my day off with a good laugh. The “fear” poem was wonderful. Gave me the courage to send my “fear” to the corner too, and maybe even shoot him a bird in the process. Can’t wait to see your next video clip.

Best line: “You’re not the only one eating your book.” True that and yet we often forget it.
Great Keynote!

Thanks for starting my day with a smile, a laugh, and most importantly, inspiration.

Thanks for kicking off WriteOnCon with humor and smarts, Josh. Your son is a genius, obviously, and I loved the poem.
Ha! Great kickoff!
Awesome keynote! Ditto what everyone is saying, loved the poem! Do you have it posted anywhere so we can reread it?
“Fear, leave me alone, for I have a book to write.” Wise words indeed.
Thanks.
What an image of fear! I love the way our dreams illustrate things. Wonderful poem.
And since I love to please dinner guests I’m going to remember that other piece of advice, for sure! Thank you for kicking this off.
