We are kicking off WriteOnCon with an inspiring (and highly entertaining) keynote from author Josh Berk. Josh’s debut novel, THE DARK DAYS OF HAMBURGER HALPIN (Knopf) was published in February 2010 and his second book is scheduled for release in Spring of 2011.

Loved this! Thanks so much, Josh. (Your doggie is adorable, by the way. Looks like he’d be named Jack)
Thank you for your time Josh! Great way to start of the conference!
Aw, Josh, I love you, man! Great keynote, even if you did lose the pipe. And I love, love, loved the poem!!!
Yay for debunking “right what you know”! My writing took off when I stopped writing about sorta privileged very earnest kids from Boston.
Thanks Josh! Great poem recapping your journey. Your writing rules rock!!
I heart your poem. Thanks for starting the conference with great advice and a dash or two of humor.
Great keynote, Josh. Wonderful advice. Especially what you said about not giving up and about studying journalism, among other things. I’ve been a journalist for 18 years and it can teach you a lot about picking out the best parts of a story and how to tell a story well.
Oh, and thanks for getting up so early!

That was so inspiring! I really needed WriteOnCon right now in my life, as I was feeling very sad about not being able to attend all of the fabulous SCBWI conferences I used to attend due to my family’s finances. This online conference idea is the answer to my prayers and a kick in the pants for my writing life. Thank you!
Thanks Josh for your entertaining welcome and great advice. I am delighted to be attending this conference from Outback Australia!
That was awesome, thank Josh for the great advice and your poem rocked!
Love the honesty here!
