Have you always wondered what agents and editors are REALLY thinking? Tune into this amazing Q&A session with literary agent Holly Root and editors Molly O’Neill and Martha Mihalick. Don’t miss this fascinating inside look at publishing!

Please note: We’ve posted this discussion in two parts due to it’s length, but believe me you’ll want to watch the entire thing. Enjoy!

P.S. Special thanks to Holly’s husband Jon Root for his mad vlog editing/moderating skills.

I second colleen. You guys aren’t scary at all! So nice and thoughtful. Thanks for the insight, and all the amazing information. I loved the part about validation. And I agree, children’s publishing is an amazing field, filled with wonderfully kind and supportive people. Thanks!

  26. Theresa Milstein on Tuesday 10, 2010

Thanks for everyone who helped make this happen. This was an informative video.

Why am I so scared of agents and editors when I query, but when I see them they seem so much like me? Weird.

  27. Kathryn Roberts on Tuesday 10, 2010

You were all so sweet! Thanks for the info. I love this community, too. What a lot of great people there are out there!

  28. Mikki Sadil on Tuesday 10, 2010

I was really impressed with all the information, thank you, ladies, so much! I was very interested in your responses to writing the second book. I see nothing “easier” about it! My first novel was a contemporary novel for girls 10-12, my second was about magic with a modern twist, for girls 9-12, and my current one is an historical novel about pre-Civil War slavery, for boys 10-13.

All were so different, that I couldn’t say any one was easier than the other, so I’m sure glad the second and succeeding ones aren’t “supposed” to be easier!

  29. Sarah B. on Tuesday 10, 2010

Thank you so much for this! It’s so nice to get this behind-the-scenes glimpse from the pros… and it certainly helps makes the whole process much less scary and intimidating!
