That was beautiful and the EXACT reason why I teach middle school and why it’s the best job in the whole wide world. Thank you thank you thank you.

  5. Melissa_Hed on Wednesday 11, 2010

My kids overheard this – they say you’re right – never quit. Thanks for the inspiring words – was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed and sorely needed the TLC. *bows with gratitude*

Keeping the Hope Alive :) I am catching up after Tuesday’s chaos, so did not get to see it as the keynote, but its still inspiring, especially now that I am on the site :) I taught MS and had my own tumultuous middle-grade experience. I definitely agree that it is a important age, caught between being a kid and a teen. I may have to work on my own bravery to share some of my experiences :)

  7. Corinne on Wednesday 11, 2010

  17. lizstraw on Wednesday 11, 2010

Thanks for the inspriational talk. I love writing for the middle grades. I have a lot of polishing to do on my stories, but you made it sound worth while and I am ready to get back to doing the drudge work! Those are the fun years and the the oh so hard years of growing up.

  18. EJ Wesley on Wednesday 11, 2010

The only real difference for me between middle school and now is that I haven’t had a non-self-inflicted wedgie in years!

    Beautiful talk Lindsay.

  19. J L Jackson on Wednesday 11, 2010

    Very nicely done! Thank you.

  20. Tessa Quin on Wednesday 11, 2010

Thank you, Lindsay. I loved your presentation. Writing MG is very challenging for me. I write YA, and I could write a PB, even Adult, but MG poses certain challenges that I don’t know if I could overcome. Perhaps in the future I will give it an honest try.

  21. Colorado Kate on Wednesday 11, 2010

    Thank you, Lindsay!

    *waving from Colorado*

  36. Portalwriter on Wednesday 11, 2010

I have to admit. I teared up on this one. Ok fine. I down right broke. Yes a 35 year old male just admitted he broke at this Vlog. Does this prove I am an MG writer?

And you mentioned Aslan. I am a diehard Narnia fan. So you can imagine what this meant to me.

Thanks for touching my heart, Lindsay, you made my day. Off to embrace the mosaic.

Oh…. and one more thing, if I might quote from one of my TV heroes, The Doctor (Ninth Version)

“Would you mind not farting, while I am trying to saving the world.”

  37. Chris Pedersen on Wednesday 11, 2010

    Thanks! I needed that!
