Thanks, this was so interesting. I think another good example of plussing the story would be Paulette Bogan’s art in Chicks and salsa. The author had a repeating line ‘No one was quite certain where the chicks got the _______” and Paulette drew a mouse in sunglasses covertly handing all the stuff off to them!

I don’t do picture books, but it never hurts to learn how a branch of the industry operates. Who knows, I may wind up doing something similar in the future myself! Thank you for the information provided.
How illustrators work fascinates me! Love hearing more about it.
A great concept. I especially like the term ‘plussing.’ I love how an illustrator is able to enhance a picture book and create layers within such a short text.
